Q. Why do I have to choose an option (local, U.K. or International)?
A. This site has grown over the years and now offers a range of information that is of interest to people from all over the world as well as in Surrey. By using a cookie it will now be possible to tailor information for you that will be more specifically of interest.
Q. I'm not sure which option I should use
A. Select the option that most closely matches your location. If in doubt select one option, and then reselect by clicking on the edition change option under the logo in the header on the main page.
Q. I've selected an option, but I can't get beyond the selection screen.
A. Try clicking on the 'reload' or 'refresh' button on your browser. Or delete the cookie (see below) then shut down and restart you computer. If this fails to resolve the problem then it is possible that your computer is not set up to accept cookies. Check your browser settings and adjust. If all else fails please contact the webmaster.
Q. I've heard that cookies are intrusive and can access files on my computer.
A. This is not true. The cookie is a small file created on your computer that contains only the information about the option you have made. No other information is accessed by this website from your computer. If you want to delete the cookie after each session then keep this box open and click here when done. You will be prompted again on your next visit to make a selection.
Q. How can I delete the cookie?
A.You can delete this cookie file quite safely if necessary. On Win 95 and Win 98, Netscape keeps its cookies in C:\Program files\Netsacpe\Users\username\cookies.txt For IE4 and above, cookies are in C:\windows\cookies\ On a Mac, the Netscape file is called MagicCookie and it's in the Netscape folder inside the Preferences folder in the System folder. IE on the Mac stores its cookies in a file called Internet Preferences in the Preferences folder.
